A Place of Natural Beauty

The Woods is a collection of seven luxury townhouses, each named after a particular native timber. Elevated and enveloped by greenery, sculpted from stone and steel, the elegant built form by DKO Architects exudes a natural grandeur.
Inside each meticulously appointed home, Zunica Interiors has created a series of spaces are bathed in natural light and offering uninterrupted sightlines to the green landscaping outside, designed by Pollen Studio. In every way, The Woods matches the well-established lifestyle and effortless sophistication of this location.

Architecture & Interiors

Each of DKO’s projects is inspired by context. For The Woods, lead architect Kai Chua worked with the site’s elevated position, which gives the built form a natural sense of grandeur. By setting the building back from the street, the site’s existing cypress tree remains as the hero, framed by the understated form of the new building.

With simple, bold and clean lines framed by carefully selected natural elements, these residences are a sophisticated addition to this stately North Balwyn streetscape. The design of each home is both essential and effortless, while the courtyards provide space and seclusion – a private oasis and a natural extension of the home.

Within each home, sightlines expand interior spaces and provide natural light penetration along with views and aspect to exteriors and landscaping. At the same time, architectural detailing has been respected and carried through the town houses with the use of quality, natural, warm and textured materiality.

Bespoke lighting, joinery and brass detailing has brought the entire project together, creating a sense of luxury, sophistication and calm. The result is an artful blend of mid-century design principles and minimalist materiality application to achieve the ultimate expression of contemporary Australian living.
